30% of COD4 players ignored single player

30% of Call of Duty 4 players never touched the single-player element of the game, according to Infinity Ward.

The stat is mentioned in a feature on Achievement development at Gamasutra, where Infinity Ward talks about how it uses Achievement data to track how people play its games.

While the data isn't comprehensive - only players with an Xbox Live connection are monitored, leaving offline gamers uncounted - that still leaves ten million CoD 4 players for Infinity Ward to keep tabs on.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling posted up some other stats from the game a while back, revealing among other things that only 2.8% of players have completed the game on veteran difficulty. That's still some 280,000-odd people, though, so don't go thinking you're too special.

    So all those people who havent hooked their xbox online when they play didn't get counted, nor the million pc sales.

    I dont think you can call someone a prat for not playing the solo mode. COD4 is ment to be played online. Afther months of playing it online, I just dont enjoy the solo enough to stick at it. COD4 is the master of online gaming.

    Thats why i dont touch multiplayer till iv gone through atleast HALF of the single player, yeah the multiplayer is amazing but come on you basically spent 60 bucks on half of a game.

    Played the single player and it bored me almost as much as killzone2, but the multiplayer (appart from the sh*t flakey servers) is in a league of its own! Some people are MP whores and some are SP whores! Live with it!

    I just played the single player, then again on veteran, then again for arcade mode, then again for speed runs. The multiplayer didn't really interest me.

    well you also have to consider the fact that many people use their other 2 free accounts on xbox live with gold service just so they can play online.. and that gamertags are not used for the SP mode.. so maybe the percentage of SP mode not being play is lower than 30%

    The single player is so well crafted!! Personally I won't waste time or money on a game without a good single player campaign. Anyone who skips it when it comes to COD4 is really missing out.
